FAQ Camille Saint-Saëns, Aquarium, from Carnival of the Animals Q: Who is performing? A: The performance is by the Seattle Youth Symphony, conducted by Vilem Sokol. Q: Where can I get this recording? A: At IMSLP: tinyurl.com Q: How did you make this? A: With software I wrote. There something similar for Windows you can get here: www.musanim.com Some people have used this software to make videos for YouTube: www.musanim.com I haven’t (since I have my own version that I prefer), but here’s how they did it: www.musanim.com Q: What would it look like with a black background instead? A: It would look like this: www.youtube.com Q: I’ve heard this before; what movies is it in? A: According to viewers (I haven’t verified this), the following movies either use this piece or have music that is based on it: Beauty and the Beast (Disney), Only You (1994), The Godfather Part II, Babe (1995), Charlotte’s Web (2006), The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008), Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. It is said to have been in a Nancy Drew game. My thanks to Kazuto Byars for suggesting I do an animation of this piece and finding an audio recording that I had permission to use.

@planeshaperman be certain that the facility has an excellent sound system
or if you are using live musicians….. book them early and read the contract before it is too late.

interesting to have the green background, it was wired watching the video with that, but cool in how it makes this video stand out from the other videos

Why does this sound so much like Danny Elfman’s soundtrack to Nightmare Christmas? I swear, the melody at 0:20 is directly lifted from the piece…

@Jasutin No, it was just a coincidence; I started working on this many months ago, but it got pushed aside when more important things came up, and I just now got around to it. I’m not a huge fan of Saint-Saëns, so the odds of me doing another of his pieces is low. Sorry.

I want this played at my funeral.

You just had to do Saint-Saens just before Halloween, didn’t you? I wish I could see you do more of his pieces.

I’m so happy that you put new videos smalin. New visuals are pretty nice but I’m the one who likes black background. Still, the important part is the music isn’t it? Thank you for posting these stuff.

    @smalin LOL, good idea!

This song isn’t quite a danse macabre, but it still seems fitting for halloween tomorrow! :)

@luckyuniversal Maybe I should’ve put in some snails.

    Great music, great visual.

@smalin This aquarium is very cool, but could use a bit of cleaning… (just jking)

@Doraeminemon01 Yes, it’s pretty subtle. @BourbonFairytales asked for a version with a black background, and I’m making that now; I’ll add a link to it to the FAQ once it’s available. (It doesn’t make that much difference.)

  • by Doraeminemon01 November 1, 2011 at 1:08 am

The circle are too subtle to notice any changes.

    that was amazing
i think trying to aim for the colours of a coral reef would have been better

beautiful! i love that you combined the different display techniques you have!

  • by smalin November 1, 2011 at 2:42 am

@PhilDePill2326 No, but it’s been suggested before and I’ve taken note of that.

  • by smalin November 1, 2011 at 3:41 am

@Keyaku1 Yes, I understand your suggestion. Have you watched all the versions of the cello suite that I’ve posted (follow the link from the “More info” in the version on this channel)? Some of those have things that are related to your idea.

@hunocsi Uh, because it’s an aquarium.

  • by AWiddit November 1, 2011 at 4:30 am
