Your whole set up looks sick! I am going to try an d set up a marine tank when I move in March. I had freshwater tankes when I was younger but this will be the first marine tank. Any suggestions or advice? Are they more successful if you have a refugium tank?? What’s a good started tank? Size? Breed of fish?

Amazing video. I wondered after? watching this. Why did these shrimp evolve their eyes in this particular fashion, and not evolve better sight by adding more eyes, like spiders?

  • by McStewbeef February 1, 2012 at 8:11 pm

    Fascinating!
Does the Mantis shrimp ever take a shot at the fish? Or does it only prefer invertebrates??
Do they break aquarium glass often?

  • by esanacore February 1, 2012 at 10:03 pm

Gorgeous? set up bro, very risky tho!! The mantis can kill those fish as I’m sure you know, I’m assuming that you have your fuge on for around 17 hours (or reverse but you turned the lights on to show the vid) but that mantis as you said can smash the fuge walls and have a big spill on your hands…the caulerpa can “go sexual” if you’re not thinning it out regularly, though you do have a very high nutrient load in the tank so that may or may not be a concern since it probably won’t starve out an
